As a sustainably focused community organization, the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center and Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life in Palo Alto, California, works to promote ecological values and environmental stewardship. However, when the organization decided to power its buildings with renewable energy, it encountered challenges. The layouts and surface conditions of the campus' rooftops were not ideal for solar, making a standard installation costly and difficult.

Trina Solar, Cobolt Power Systems and THiNKnrg partnered to bring a flexible solar system to the 12 rooftops of the Taube Koret Campus. The system supplies 20 percent of the campus' energy needs and will reduce the OFJCC's energy cost by more than $1.5 million over the next two decades. Thanks to the solar installation, the Taube Koret campus achieved a LEED Silver rating for the entire complex.
