Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Gao established Trina Solar in December 1997. Mr. Gao is the vice chairman of the China Renewable Energy Society, as well as the standing Vice Chairman of the New Energy Chamber of Commerce of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. Mr. Gao received his master’s degree in physical chemistry from Jilin University in 1988 and his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Nanjing University in 1985.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Terry Wang joined Trina Solar in January 2008 as Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Trina, Mr. Wang served as the executive vice president of finance of Spreadtrum Communications. Prior to that, he also served in key finance executive roles in several high-tech companies. Mr. Wang is a Certified Management Accountant, is certified in financial management (CFM) and holds an M.A. in Economics from Brown University and an MBA in finance from the University of Wisconsin.
Stephanie Yang Shao
Chief Human Resources Officer
Ms. Stephanie Yang Shao joined Trina Solar as Chief Human Resources Officer in September, 2010. Prior to joining Trina, she worked in multiple Fortune 500 companies in the US, including Colgate Palmolive, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Dun Bradstreet in roles of increasing responsibility in the areas of HR, Marketing and Business Development. Ms. Shao holds a B.S. in Psychology from Beijing University, an M.S. in Management Psychology from Chinese Academy of Science and a Ph.D in Social & Organizational Psychology from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
Senior Vice President and Module Business Unit President
Mr. Zhiguo Zhu joined Trina Solar in 2011 and was named senior vice president in January 2012, and president of Trina Solar’s Module Business Unit in September 2012. Prior to joining Trina Solar, Mr. Zhu served as the global finance operations controller and internal control and audit director and the chief financial officer of the Air-Conditioner Group at Haier Group, China Regional CFO and Vice President of Lucent Technologies (Qingdao), and also as the financial controller and acting general manager at Howden Hua Engineering Company. He received a B.S. degree in engineering from Tsinghua University, an M.S. degree from the University of Shanghai Science and Technology, a Certificate of Postgraduate Studies of Cambridge and an MBA from Imperial College London.
Senior Vice President and Blue Ocean Business Unit President
Dr. Qiang Huang joined Trina Solar in 2007 and was named senior vice president in January 2012. In September 2012 Dr. Huang was named president of our Blue Ocean Business Unit. He is the director of the State Key Laboratory for PV Science and Technology, a member of the National Standards Committee of China, as well of the Technical Committee of the National Opto-electrical and Building Integrated Photovoltaic Expert Committee of China. He is the Chinese national representative for the IEC TC82 International Technical Committee to develop international PV standards. Dr. Huang received a master's degree in electronics materials and devices from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China in 1998 and a Ph.D in physics specializing in thin-film technology from the National University of Singapore in 2002.
Vice President, President of European and American PV Systems Business Unit
Mr. Jim Wang joined Trina Solar in 2012 and has served as President of European and American PV Systems Business Unit since November 2012. Prior to joining Trina, Mr. Wang held senior management-level positions at GCL-Poly, Comtec Solar Systems, and JA Solar. Mr. Wang received a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the Institute of Vocational Training Kanagawa, Japan; an M.S. degree in precision machinery systems from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and participated in the Ph.D program for the same university. Mr. Wang later participated in the Ph.D. program in aerospace engineering at University of Tucson, Arizona.
Vice President, President of China and APMEA PV System Business Unit
Mr. Jiqing Gao has been our President of China and APMEA PV System Business Unit since November 2012. As one of the founders of Trina Solar, he has extensive experience across various departments of our company, including production quality management, operations, research and development. He received a bachelor’s degree from Jilin University in 1990.
Vice President, President of Europe Region
Mr. Benjamin Hill joined Trina in April, 2009. He has been President, Europe Region since July 2012. During his time at Trina, he has served as the acting head of global sales and marketing and as vice president of sales and marketing in Europe. He has 25 years of Solar industry experience. Prior to joining Trina, he worked with BP Solar for over ten years, having served in multiple sales management roles throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He has also worked at Hiltec Solar Ltd., Nestec Ltd. and Sollatek Ltd. (UK). Mr. Hill has 25 years of experience in business development in the PV industry.
Vice President, President of Americas Region
Mr. Mark Mendenhall joined Trina in August 2012 as President for the Americas Region. Before joining Trina Solar, Mr. Mendenhall served as president and general manager for Sun Edison’s North America division. Before that, Mr. Mendenhall worked for more than 30 years at Tyco International, where he served as president, general manager and director across a number of its subsidiaries, including Raychem. Mr. Mendenhall received a bachelor’s degree in physics and electronic engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
Dr. Haiyan Sun
President of APMEA Region
Dr. Haiyan Sun joined Trina Solar in 2010 and has been our APMEA regional president since July 2012, prior to this role, he was Vice President for System & Engineering Services. Prior to joining Trina Solar, he worked at Oerlikon Solar as head of technical marketing for Asia and as managing director of China for over four years. Dr. Sun received a M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Wuhan Huazhong University of Science & Technology and a Ph.D. degree in material science and engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Switzerland.
Vice President, President of China Region
Mr. Qi Lin has been our China regional president since July 2012. Prior to joining Trina Solar, Mr. Lin worked at Siemens as senior vice president of Siemens SLC and general manager of the division of renewable energy for Northeast Asia. Before joining Siemens in 2004, Mr. Lin has also worked at LM Glasfiber; FOSS (a leading analytical instrument manufacturer in Denmark), and YuanDa Engineering, GE and Schneider Electric. Mr. Lin received a B.S. degree from the Beijing University of Technology and an MBA degree from the City University of Seattle in 2001.
