2023.12.13

(Tokyo, Japan) 13 December 2023 - On November 23 2023, world-leading smart PV and energy storage solution provider, Trina Solar, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan’s Narashinrinsigen Hozenkousya (Nara Forest Resources Protection Company of Japan). This collaboration solidifies Trina Solar's entry into the industrial energy storage sector in Japan, with a commitment to supply large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) totaling 30MWh of storage capacity from 2024.

Trina Solar, at the forefront of the smart PV industry, recognized the increasing demand for storage systems in power grids globally, driven by the remarkable growth of renewable energy. Anticipating this trend, Trina Solar ventured into energy storage in 2015 with Trina Storage and, since 2021, has evolved into a vertically integrated BESS solution provider, encompassing battery cells, products, and solutions. Backed by a robust R&D and manufacturing infrastructure, Trina Storage presently boasts over 100 global partners, negotiating projects exceeding 10 GWh, with an additional 4 GWh under development.

The recently inked agreement is the inaugural industrial use order for Trina Storage in Japan. Trina Storage recently released Elementa 2 which utilizes battery cells manufactured in-house, which features zero battery degradation in the first year of operation. The transition to Trina Solar's proprietary cells in the second-generation Elementa underlines the company's commitment to innovation and product enhancement.

Narashinrinsigen is a longstanding partner with Trina Solar in the modules sector, and this storage agreement is an expression of their continued trust and support, marking a promising initiation for Trina Storage in the Japanese storage market.

Todd Li, President of Trina Solar Asia Pacific, said: "We are honored to cooperate with Narashinrinsigen in the energy storage industry. This partnership is not only testament to our outstanding products and market strength, but also a pivotal step in jointly advancing the development of energy storage technology and the use of renewable energy. We remain committed to creating higher value for our customers with our excellent products and quality services."

Hosoi Genmei, Representative Director President of Narashinrinsigen said, "We appreciate the remarkable results achieved by Trina Solar in recent years. We believe that through the joint efforts of both parties, we will contribute significant momentum to the global energy transition with advanced and efficient energy storage solutions."

Trina Solar has been operating in the Japanese market since 2010, and has earned the trust of many cooperating partners for its world-class products, stable supply, prompt logistics and after-sales service. Last year, Trina Solar achieved its highest-ever cumulative module shipment volume in the Japanese market of approximately 7.5 GW.
