Trinasolar Presents New Flexible Module+Tracker Solution for Lowest LCOE at Intersolar Europe
Upgraded Vanguard 1P Smart Tracking Solution combines perfectly with Vertex N Module Series
2024.05.21

Trina Solar Co., Ltd (“Trinasolar” or ‘the company”), a global leader in smart PV and energy storage solutions, today announced the regional launch of its enhanced Vanguard 1P Smart Tracking Solution, set to happen during Intersolar Europe 2024. This updated solution includes the latest version of the Vanguard 1P, combined with recent improvements to the Smart Control System, marking a significant advance in solar tracking technology. The new system can minimize LCOE in perfect combination with up to three strings of Trinasolar’s Vertex N series of ultra-high performance n type i-TOPCon solar PV modules, meeting European partners‘ needs for flexible system design and long-term reliability in local and global solar projects.

Building on the company's rich 27-year legacy of innovation in solar technology, this solution is designed to offer customers trackers that integrate adaptability to complex terrain, exceptional system stability and reliability, quick installation and versatile external compatibility. Furthermore, it features state-of-the-art smart control systems renowned for their high reliability, performance and efficiency.

The next generation: Substantial design upgrades

The improved Vanguard 1P model boasts a cutting-edge multi-motor system equipped with a slewing drive and a bi-damper system. Its innovative design minimizes oscillation time, averting instabilities, improving dynamic response and raising the critical wind speed threshold. The multi-motor feature guarantees precise tracking under the most challenging conditions.

Upgrades to Vanguard 1P facilitate the construction of longer trackers, up to 140 meters, able to accommodate three full strings of Vertex N 720W+ modules (TSM-NEG21C.20). Hence, one single Vanguard 1P tracker can hold up to 64.8 kWp. However, this largest option may be most appropriate for European customers with projects abroad, in desert areas or other flat lands. Recognizing the nature of project sites throughout Europe, Trinasolar also offers flexible options, able to accommodate one or two strings of Vertex N 720W+ (TSM-NEG21C.20) or 625W+ modules (TSM-NEG19RC.20) at a length of 35 to 80 meters, respectively.

Compared with the standard 1P Tracker system, the upgraded Vanguard 1P greatly increases installation efficiency. The introduction of shrink tube technology has effectively halved the time needed for tube connections. Furthermore, the integration of a patented spherical bearing greatly enhances terrain adaptability, making it much easier to assemble the tracker and reducing the extra forces caused by misalignment.

Gonzalo de la Viña, President Europe at Trinasolar, commented: “We are proud to be the leading industry player in integrated smart solutions. Optimization between different components is crucial in reaching our main goal: bringing down LCOE even further, and fulfilling our vision of letting solar energy benefit all mankind. We have successfully mastered the one-stop shop idea while we will keep boosting power output even further. Both our dual-glass bifacial modules and field-tested tracking systems set new industry standards continuously and are guaranteed to perform over many years.”

Digital Enhancements: More Energy and Safety, Less O&M Cost

In addition to these improvements, Trinasolar places a strategic focus on expanding the digitalization and smart solution elements within its tracker portfolio. The Smart Control System, which includes Smart Controller, Trina Smart Cloud and SuperTrack algorithm, has undergone significant refinements, adding considerable value to the overall solution.

These enhancements encompass improved operation and maintenance efficiency, along with upgraded system security within the Trina Smart Cloud. Key features are a multi-role permission management for enhanced security, innovative alerts such as motor diagnostic pre-warning, and a 3D digital map to facilitate the easy identification of alerts and faults.

Furthermore, the SuperTrack Algorithm has undergone significant advances, expanding its range of application settings while autonomously identifying, training and optimizing itself, resulting in a marked increase in energy production of up to 8%.

Trina Smart Controller provides various mainstream communication methods, including wireless and wired. Multiple extreme weather protection strategies, such as strong wind, hail and heavy snow, ensure the system’s stable operation.

De la Viña continued, “These improvements show our strong commitment to go beyond physical products, creating a new energy world. We fully embrace the power of digital to create a completely new dimension in user experience. The new Vanguard 1P evolution shows mind-boggling potential for bringing tracking solutions to more European markets by turning them into a compelling business case.”

The enhanced Vanguard 1P tracking solution will be shown in combination with Vertex N 720W+ modules at the Trinasolar booth (A1.370) during Intersolar Europe 2024.
