Although 2022 is only halfway over, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the significance of the last six months at Trina Solar. The year has been exciting, from historic company milestones to major industry recognition. And we’re just getting started.
25 Years and 100 GW Shipped
As we celebrate our 25th anniversary as a company this year, we’re proud to announce that we have surpassed 100GW of PV modules shipped globally. This remarkable accomplishment highlights our commitment to delivering clean, affordable, and reliable energy to homes, businesses, and power plants.
100GW of PV modules can collectively generate about 135 billion kWh of clean-energy power, reducing annual global CO2 emissions by 135 million tons and standard coal consumption by 54.54 million tons — equivalent to planting 7.29 billion trees!
During the past quarter century, Trina Solar set 24 different world records for PV cell-conversion efficiency and module output power in our unwavering commitment to advancing technology and innovation.
Surpassing 100GW of shipments marks the beginning of a new journey as a solar industry leader in the global transition to a carbon-free world over the next 25 years and beyond.
Lowest LCOE, Highest Bankability
There’s a reason we’ve been around long enough to celebrate 25 years and 100GW of module shipments. Our commitment to continuing to lower the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) while manufacturing the PV modules with industry-leading reliability and bankability drives successful and long-lasting partnerships with customers.
In our quest to deliver the most innovative PV technology at the best value, we launched the 210mm Trina Vertex Series. The larger 210mm solar wafers coupled with sophisticated manufacturing processes, including multi-busbar architecture and non-destructive cutting, allow the ultra-high-power Vertex modules to generate more power while reducing the overall PV system CAPEX to lower a solar project’s LCOE.
A series of LCOE assessments conducted by multiple independent, third-party organizations confirmed that the Vertex Series delivers the lowest LCOE compared to modules using smaller solar cells.
Not only does the Vertex series lower LCOE, but it also provides unparalleled reliability. PV ModuleTech gave the Vertex series its highest-possible ‘AAA’ bankability ranking. The Vertex series garnered a “Top Performer” in the PVEL Reliability Scorecard for the eighth consecutive year. Most recently, the Renewable Energy Test Center (RETC) recognized the Vertex 670W series as an “Overall High Achiever” in three essential module categories: reliability, performance, and quality—the third consecutive year Trina earned this recognition.
Looking Ahead
While we appreciate the recognition of our hard work, we’re focused on innovating and delivering more value to the solar industry in the future.
This work includes expanding our Vertex series capacity, growing the 600W+ Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecological Alliance, and continuing to build a truly sustainable solar supply chain.
We look forward to introducing more TOPCon solar technology to the market to achieve even better PV module efficiency.
We anticipate introducing new PV products and solar solutions for the North American market in the coming months. So be sure to subscribe to our newsletter, follow us on social media, and keep checking back to see what’s in store next from Trina Solar.
