Trinasolar kicked off 2025 riding a wave of momentum that only accelerated throughout the year. The company's cumulative 210mm module shipments reached 170GW by the close of 2024, just five years after launching the pioneering technology. By the end of Q1 2025, Trinasolar had more than 275GW of cumulative module shipments, with this surging growth trajectory continuing through mid-year and exceeding 292GW by the end of Q2.
Then, in October, Trina ushered in the TOPCon 2.0 Era with the global rollout of its Vertex N TOPCon Ultra modules, marking a new milestone in high-efficiency solar deployments for commercial and industrial (C&I) rooftops and utility-scale projects. Trina achieved this less than a year after launching the TOPCon 2.0 era, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to innovation and leadership in advancing and commercializing cutting-edge solar technologies, while establishing new industry standards.
Unmatched Recognition for PV Module Reliability and Performance
Beyond the sheer quantity of modules shipped, Trina's unmatched performance and high-quality reliability have translated into multiple awards, certifications, and rankings throughout 2025.
Trina once again earned a place on the BloombergNEF (BNEF) Tier 1 PV module manufacturer list, underscoring its bankability, advanced technological capabilities, and industry-leading 210mm n-type TOPCon technology.
Trina’s achievement streak continued in the Kiwa PVEL PV 2025 Module Reliability Scorecard, where excellence in module reliability and performance earned Trina the "Top Performer" status for an 11th consecutive year.
The Vertex N module family earned particular distinction, claiming the prestigious "Overall Highest Achiever" award from RETC, the fifth consecutive award in this category.
In particular, the Vertex N Shield module received the PV Module Comprehensive Reliability Award at the 11th TÜV Rheinland "All Quality Matters" Solar & ESS Congress 2025, highlighting its exceptional durability and performance under extreme weather conditions.
These awards and recognitions stand as a testament to Trinasolar's leadership in the global PV industry, reinforcing its brand influence as a benchmark enterprise in the sector.
Nonstop Technological Innovation and Solar Industry Firsts
Innovation remains at the heart of Trinasolar's strategy, with the company achieving several breakthroughs that will reshape the solar industry landscape. In February, UL Solutions granted the Vertex N 2000V high-voltage module UL 61730 certification, making Trinasolar the world's first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to receive this certification for a 210R 2000V module. This achievement showcases the superior performance, reliability, and stringent quality control of Trinasolar's high-voltage modules while broadening the application possibilities of the Vertex family to meet increasingly diverse customer requirements and lower level cost of electricity (LCOE).
In March, Trinasolar announced the development of the world's first industrial-standard perovskite/silicon tandem module delivering more than 800W of maximum power. Manufactured with 210mm x 105mm perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells, this 3.1-square-meter module achieved peak power output of 808W, certified by the global testing, inspection, and certifying body TÜV SÜD. This monumental breakthrough represents a key milestone in the advancement of solar technology and marks a crucial step toward the industrialization of tandem modules at scale.
Trinasolar's research and development (R&D) capabilities have put the company at the top of the Global Perovskite Solar Cell Invention Patent Ranking published by IPRdaily, with 481 patent applications filed for this critical emerging technology. Trinasolar additionally ranked second in both the global solar cell and module patent rankings and the TOPCon solar cell patent ranking. As of October 2025, Trinasolar had filed over 700 patents related to TOPCon technologies alone.
The successful development of an 808W perovskite/silicon tandem module with industrial-standard dimensions, as well as Trina’s patent rankings, demonstrates the depth and breadth of the company’s intellectual property portfolio. Together, these factors underscore its commitment to pioneering advancements while maintaining leadership in both current- and next-gen PV technologies.
Unwavering Commitment to Sustainability and ESG Leadership
For nearly three decades, Trinasolar has embedded environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles deeply into its corporate vision, strategic planning, and operations. The company established a core goal of achieving carbon neutrality across all its global operations by 2030, and has published annual corporate social responsibility reports continuously since 2010. In June 2025, Trinasolar released its 2024 Sustainability Report, highlighting its achievements in circular innovation, low-carbon manufacturing, supply chain transparency, social responsibility, and governance. The report shows Trina reaching key ESG benchmarks while achieving remarkable milestones in solar and energy storage technology, demonstrating leadership that extends well beyond innovation metrics. The report emphasizes Trinasolar’s dedication to seizing opportunities and managing risks toward sustainable development.
These efforts have earned the company multiple accolades.
Trinasolar was once shortlisted for the Bloomberg Green ESG 50 list, earning the title of Leading Champion for its outstanding ESG performance.
BloombergNEF’s latest report assessing the resilience and innovation of leading PV module manufacturers highlighted Trinasolar's dedicated global strategy, strong bankability, pioneering technological innovation, and exceptional sustainability performance. Most notably, the report awarded Trina the highest ESG score among PV module manufacturers as of May 2025, reaffirming its leadership in sustainable development.
Additional recognition came from EcoVadis' 2025 Sustainability Rating, which awarded Trinasolar the Silver Medal for excellent performance in environmental impact, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. With an overall score of 72 out of 100, Trinasolar ranks among the top 12% of the 150,000+ companies EcoVadis assessed worldwide.
S&P Global Commodity Insights further validated Trinasolar's ESG performance by including the company in its inaugural Tier 1 Cleantech Companies list for both modules and energy storage systems. The assessment evaluates international manufacturers based on six key criteria: market presence, market share, operational scale, global diversification, corporate sustainability assessments, and financial performance. Companies designated as Tier 1 must surpass the established minimum threshold across at least four of these dimensions, and this listing reflects Trinasolar's comprehensive excellence across the global clean energy landscape.
Looking Ahead to Next Year
2025 was a year for Trina to stand proud of its accomplishments: record shipments, unmatched patent portfolios, reliability certifications, technological breakthroughs that redefine what's possible, and a commitment to doing all of this sustainably. From the first 210mm modules that revolutionized efficiency to today's 808W tandem breakthroughs, and from consistent reliability recognition to the highest ESG scores, Trinasolar spent the year proving that you can lead through innovation, scale through quality, and build for the future while taking care of the present.
As global energy demand continues to surge alongside accelerating technological advancements, these achievements provide a robust foundation for Trina’s continued leadership in the years ahead.
