Renewable energy breaks global record

April 25, 2016

A new report from the United Nations found renewable energy reached a milestone last year. For the first time ever, clean energy sources accounted for the majority of new global electricity-generating capacity.

The UN report found investments in solar, wind and other renewable energy sources totaled $286 billion last year, nearly twice the amount that went into coal and gas-fired electricity. Additionally, much of the growth of renewables was found in emerging markets, including China, India, South Africa, Mexico and Chile – showing the use of clean energy is spreading throughout the world.

As the world’s leading solar panel manufacturer, Trinasolar is committed to encouraging the growth of clean energy for a more sustainable future.
