Trina Storage Unveils All-Scenario Grid-Forming Energy Storage Solution
With renewable energy expected to exceed 43% of global electricity generation by 2030 (IEA), power systems are encountering challenges such as declining inertia, frequency instability, and voltage fluctuations. In this context, grid-forming energy storage has emerged as a critical tool to enhance system stability and enable deeper clean energy integration.
Leveraging the company’s comprehensive R&D capabilities, Trina Storage has introduced its all-scenario Cell-to-AC grid-forming energy storage solution. The solution comprises Trina Storage’s self-developed product portfolio — a flexible DC battery cabin, an integrated MV skid, and a unified system-level management platform — which together enable advanced grid-forming control.
The system can operate as a voltage source, providing synthetic inertia, frequency and voltage support, and wide-SCR compatibility. It also supports 1.5x instantaneous overload, coordinated AGC/AVC control, seamless transitions between grid-forming and grid-following modes, and full-station black-start restoration in under three minutes, enhancing resilience across diverse grid conditions.
