Trina Storage Unveils All-Scenario Grid-Forming Energy Storage Solution

January 26, 2026
December 12, 2025 — Trina Storage, a global leader in integrated energy storage solutions, today announced the launch of its all-scenario grid-forming energy storage solution, developed to support the stability and flexibility of modern power systems as renewable penetration continues to rise worldwide. The solution was unveiled by Mr. Yu Hong, Head of the Advanced Power Electronics Institute, during the Energy Storage Industry Innovation Alliance Summit, where he outlined its technical framework and deployment potential across global markets.

With renewable energy expected to exceed 43% of global electricity generation by 2030 (IEA), power systems are encountering challenges such as declining inertia, frequency instability, and voltage fluctuations. In this context, grid-forming energy storage has emerged as a critical tool to enhance system stability and enable deeper clean energy integration.

Leveraging the company’s comprehensive R&D capabilities, Trina Storage has introduced its all-scenario Cell-to-AC grid-forming energy storage solution. The solution comprises Trina Storage’s self-developed product portfolio — a flexible DC battery cabin, an integrated MV skid, and a unified system-level management platform — which together enable advanced grid-forming control.

The system can operate as a voltage source, providing synthetic inertia, frequency and voltage support, and wide-SCR compatibility. It also supports 1.5x instantaneous overload, coordinated AGC/AVC control, seamless transitions between grid-forming and grid-following modes, and full-station black-start restoration in under three minutes, enhancing resilience across diverse grid conditions.
