FREMONT, CA — A leading provider of solar smart energy solutions, Trina Solar US, today announced its 6.5GW silicon solar wafer facility in Vietnam will be online mid-2023 to supply the utility, commercial & industrial, and residential solar markets in the United States.
Prior to the Department of Commerce (DOC) preliminary AD/CVD determination in December 2022, Trina worked to expand production locations, arrange business operations, and diversify supply chains to comply with US regulations and minimize tariff impact on its products. Trina’s ongoing process already includes polysilicon sourced outside of China and manufacturing modules and cells in Southeast Asia. The wafer facility is a further step in Trina’s supply chain diversification.
Trina’s Southeast Asia cell and module manufacturing facility will utilize wafer capacity from the facility in Vietnam, providing Trina with wafer, cell, and module capabilities necessary to meet near-term US market requirements and receive an exemption from circumvention.
