In a decade  defined by climate urgency, Trinasolar not only delivers cutting-edge smart solar solutions, it enables renewable energy goals to be transformed into measurable actions. In 2024, we advanced the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) with record solar shipments, green manufacturing breakthroughs, and community partnerships.

How Does Trinasolar Deliver Clean, Affordable Energy to All (SDG 7)?

With our mission of ' Solar Energy for All’, affordable and clean energy is at the heart of what we do. By the end of 2024, we surpassed 260 GW in global solar module shipments, cutting almost 350 million tons or carbon emissions. That's equivalent to planting 19.1 billion trees.

In Asia Pacific, solar is powering real communities::

  • Utility-scale  hybrid ground-mounted and floating solar installations, such as the 100MWac hybrid solar park in Merchang, Malaysia
  • Commercial and Industrial Installations where solar modules provide more than just power generation, like the 722.4 kW solar carport for Australia's Monash University that generates solar power while providing all-weather shade for campus facilities, supporting sustainability and comfort.

These examples prove how smart solar design can serve both people and planet.

How Does Trinasolar Innovate for a Circular Economy and Resilient, Low-Carbon Future (SDGs 9, 12 & 13)?

Sustainable development drives what we build and how we build it.

In 2024, Trinasolar:

Our green manufacturing achievements included:

  • 65% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions (vs. 2020 baseline)
  • 95% water and non-hazardous waste recycling rate
  • 47 energy-saving projects across global bases

As global solar deployment expands, the sector must also tackle circularity and scale safe end-of-life solutions.

How Does Trinasolar Empower People and Communities: Health, Equity & Jobs (SDGs 3, 4, 5, 8, 10)?

People fuel progress. In 2024, we formalised our gender equity commitment by signing the UN Women's Empowerment Principles, shaping our policies on hiring and leadership pathways in APAC and globally. Today, our nearly 30,000 employees represent a workforce built on inclusion, regardless of gender, age, culture, or socio-economic status.

Beyond the workplace, Trinasolar actively supports local education and economic development in the countries we operate. In 2024, we invested USD 2.2 million in community partnerships globally. Trinasolar's community engagement events in APAC included:

When innovation thrives in healthy, equitable societies, empowered communities become collaborators that spark ideas, partnerships and purpose – and that's a future we’re proud to power.

How Has Trinasolar Protected Land, Water, and Life (SDG 6, 15)?

Economic growth means nothing without environmental stability. That's why we’ve drastically reduced our resource intensity in solar cell and module manufacturing since 2020:

  • 87% less water
  • 66% lower greenhouse gas emissions
  • 40% less energy used

These reductions keep our footprint small even as we grow.

We also support regional projects exploring how solar can work harmoniously with nature. In 2024, agrivoltaics was a key solution for land preservation and resource use. Across the Asia Pacific, 2024 saw success stories in combining crop growth and sheep grazing with solar power generation from Japan to New Zealand, proving that solar can actively support ecosystems.

What Does Trinasolar Do for Governance and Partnerships for Impact (SDG 16, 17)?

Sustainability means accountability. We uphold transparency and responsibility throughout our supply chain to protect people and environment:

We also engage with global industry associations and regulatory bodies to:

  • Accelerate technological development: In 2024, we undertook 22 R&D partnership projects with global and regional partners, including a collaboration with Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) to develop next-generation energy storage battery technologies.
  • Shape fair, responsible clean energy standards worldwide: As of 2024, we developed 220 international technical standards, receiving the Standards Pioneer Award from the British Standards Institution (BSI).

Together, these efforts push for a scalable clean energy future that balances global energy demands with sustainability and resilience for both the industry and the environment.

2030 and Beyond: The Road Ahead for UN SDG-Aligned Sustainability

Every action in 2024 brought us closer to the vision of a just, low-carbon, and inclusive global future, but we’re not near the finish line yet. The years ahead demand bold thinking, proven solutions, and shared commitment.

Yet, complex challenges remain, from scaling end-of-life solutions for solar modules to ensuring that sustainability gains keep pace with the industry's rapid growth. At Trinasolar, we’re driving progress with proven solutions and trusted partners across the industry.
