Trinasolar Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the 17 SDGs with a Commitment to Global Responsibility and Sustainable Progress
2025.09.05

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), calling on all nations to take action to foster economic prosperity while safeguarding our planet.

Now, on the 10th anniversary of the SDGs, Trinasolar answers this call with sustainable solutions that turn vision into reality. From empowering rural areas to advancing ecological protection, our solar technologies are helping communities’ worldwide transition toward a more sustainable future.

SDG 1: No Poverty —Revitalizing rural economies with solar energy

Aligned with the UN goal of eliminating all forms of poverty, Trinasolar is harnesse clean energy to create new opportunities for rural communities.

In Shiheng Town, Shandong Province, the company supplied high‑efficiency Vertex series modules and energy storage systems for a landmark 150 MW aquavoltaics project. From January to November 2024, the project produced 163 million kWh of electricity, exceeding expected output and ensuring stable investment returns. By improving water quality, boosting local fisheries, and increasing farmers’ incomes, the project demonstrates how ecological preservation and economic growth can advance together.

SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy — Making renewable energy accessible to all

In support of the UN goal to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all, Trinasolar delivers high‑efficiency, long‑lasting solar solutions for every scenario — from high plateaus to arid deserts — enabling clean energy adoption in diverse environments worldwide.

Operating in one of the world’s most challenging desert landscapes, the project delivers a stable, low‑cost, and sustainable supply of green electricity to meet a wide range of utility needs. By ensuring reliable access to clean energy while restoring degraded land, Trinasolar is demonstrating how renewable power can serve all aspects of daily life and drive both environmental and economic benefits.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production — Pioneering sustainable manufacturing

In alignment with the UN goal to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns, Trinasolar is setting new benchmarks for sustainable manufacturing in the photovoltaic industry. Trinasolar’s production plants in Changzhou, Suqian, and Yancheng, China, have been recognized as National Green Factories, while its Yiwu facility has obtained the 2023 Zerocarbon Factory (Type I) Fourstar Certificate in 2024.

Throughout its operations, Trinasolar has made substantial progress in reducing its environmental footprint. Since 2020, the company has achieved significant sustainability gains in module production, cutting greenhouse gas emissions intensity by more than 65%, reducing energy consumption intensity by over 40%, and lowering water consumption intensity by nearly 68%. These results demonstrate Trinasolar’s commitment to resource efficiency, carbon reduction, and sustainable manufacturing across the solar industry.

SDG 15: Life on Land — Protecting Ecosystems and Restoring Resilience

Supporting the UN goal to protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, Trinasolar integrates ecological stewardship into its renewable energy projects.

On agricultural land of New Zealand, the Te Herenga o Te Rā project has been deployed alongside measures to protect farmland ecosystems, enabling both livestock and crops to flourish. Beyond electricity generation, Trinasolar invests in reforestation initiatives such as the creation of the Trina Forest in Spain — to restore habitats and enhance biodiversity.
