On-Site Witnessing by Leading Fire Engineering Consultancy Hiller Validates Trina Storage’s System-Level Safety

January 13, 2026

Fremont, Calif., Jan. 13, 2026 - In November, Trina Storage conducted a large-scale fire test of its self-developed Elementa 2 Pro system, witnessed and overseen by North American fire safety and engineering authority, The Hiller Companies (Hiller). Hiller’s participation, as a trusted expert in fire and safety, reflects Trina Storage’s confidence in its system-level safety, while demonstrating an industry-leading practice of engaging top-tier third-party fire safety expertise in large-scale validation.

Hiller is a leading fire protection, engineering, and energy safety institution in the United States. The company has extensive experience in NFPA, UL, and other key safety standards, as well as energy storage fire risk assessment and engineering safety. During the test, Hiller’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) fully witnessed and supervised the experiment on-site, pushing the stringent conditions while maintaining the highest standards of execution, and recording critical data to ensure the experiment was complete, transparent, and fully traceable.

The large-scale fire test was performed in accordance with the latest international standards NFPA 855:2026 & UL 9540A:2025-11, under conditions exceeding standard requirements. The Initiation container stayed structurally intact with no collapse, and no thermal propagation occurred in adjacent containers. Maximum cell temperatures in back-to-back and side-by-side configurations were 43.9°C and 23.9°C, both well below venting thresholds.

Paul Hayes, Vice President of Energy Infrastructure and Senior Fire Protection Engineer at Hiller, commented that Trina Storage’s stable and reliable system performance in this test reflects its professionalism in energy storage safety engineering. Hiller will conduct a comprehensive and impartial analysis of all recorded data and produce an independent evaluation report, in addition to an NRTL report, providing valuable reference for the industry.

By actively involving a globally recognized fire safety authority in the large-scale fire test, Trina Storage not only completed a high-intensity, system-level safety validation, but also advanced transparency and rigor in energy storage safety verification. Moving forward, Trina Storage will continue to refine its products to even higher standards and work with global professional institutions and industry partners to promote a safer and more reliable energy storage industry.
