Advancing a Responsible Value Chain and Co-creating a Sustainable PV Ecosystem

In response to growing global demands for sustainable supply chain practices and to further align with the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Trinasolar’s Supply Chain Strategy Department, in collaboration with the ESG Management Team, successfully hosted the 2025 ESG Supplier Empowerment Initiative and Supply Chain Due Diligence Training in August 2025. The training brought together partners from across the entire value chain, with active participation from representatives of over 500 core suppliers. The initiative aimed to promote high-quality ESG development in the supply chain, guided by the principle of Shared Capacity Building, Shared Ecosystem Prosperity.”

Benchmarking against International Best Practices and Communicating Supply Chain ESG Goals

The event featured a keynote presentation by an expert from UNGC, who provided deep insights under the theme “Dialoguing, Co-Building, and Sharing a Sustainable Future.” The session offered a comprehensive interpretation of the UNGC’s Ten Principles, covering critical ESG topics such as low-carbon transition, circular resource management, labor rights, supply chain equity, business ethics, and regulatory compliance. In addition, the presentation explored global ESG policy trends and presented international best practices, particularly relevant for enterprises pursuing global expansion. Emphasis was placed on SDGs highly relevant to the photovoltaic (PV) industry—such as Affordable and Clean Energy, Industry Innovation and Infrastructure, and Climate Action—offering practical guidance to help supply chain partners benchmark and shape their ESG transformation pathways.

Addressing Key ESG Issues: Strengthening Accountability Across the Supply Chain

Tailored to the specific characteristics of the PV supply chain, the event included specialized training session on ESG due diligence. It emphasized Trinasolar’s SOLAR (S-Sustainability, O-Optimization, L-Leading, A-Action, R-Responsibility) sustainability philosophy. The session detailed the global regulations and standards that inform Trinasolar’s ESG due diligence practices, along with its full-cycle management framework—from supplier onboarding and mid-term audits to ongoing improvement initiatives. It also clarified the primary responsibilities of Tier-1 suppliers, as well as ESG evaluation requirements for their upstream partners. A closed-loop management approach was outlined, covering all stages of risk management: identification, analysis and assessment, corrective actions, and resolution. Key ESG focus areas included targets and management requirements for energy consumption, emissions control, occupational health and safety, the eradication of child and forced labor, and supply chain traceability. Specific due diligence indicators and audit criteria were defined to guide suppliers in aligning with Trinasolar’s ESG expectations.

Fostering Collaboration: Interactive Dialogue on ESG Implementation Challenges

An interactive Q&A session provided a platform for suppliers to discuss supply chain ESG policies and standards and the practical challenges—particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—in ESG capacity building. Trinasolar addressed participants' concerns in detail, collected feedback, and offered tailored guidance to support suppliers in participating in Trinasolar’s ESG Due Diligence Program and implementing corrective measures.

The event received written feedback from over 230 suppliers, many of whom praised the program for its forward-looking perspective and actionable content.
