Trina Storage Supports Germany’s Energy Transition with 50MW/100MWh Strübbel Battery Energy Storage Project
September 24, 2025
Munich, Germany — 24th Sep— Trina Storage, a leading global energy storage solution provider, announced the
completion of construction of the 50MW/100MWh Strübbel battery energy storage system (BESS) in Northern Germany. The project, developed by Aquila Clean Energy and constructed by H&MV, is powered by Trina Storage's advanced Elementa BESS solution.

Located in one of Europe's leading wind power regions, the Strübbel project will support Germany's renewable integration by storing excess wind and solar energy and discharging it during peak demand. The project has completed construction and is currently undergoing commissioning. Once energized, it will provide grid balancing, frequency regulation, and flexible renewable integration services, further enhancing the stability and efficiency of the German energy system.
Trina Storage is rapidly expanding its footprint across Europe. In the UK, the company has already deployed over 1GWh of battery storage projects supporting grid balancing and flexibility. The completion of the Strübbel project in Germany marks another major milestone, further strengthening its presence in one of Europe's core renewable energy markets. Beyond these, Trina Storage is also advancing projects in Italy, Eastern Europe—including Romania and the Baltics—and other countries across the continent, laying the foundation for a multi-GWh pipeline that addresses diverse market needs with safe, scalable, and bankable storage solutions.
Most recently, Trina Storage was recognized as a Tier 1 BESS provider by S&P Global, following earlier recognition from BloombergNEF. This dual acknowledgment underscores the company's strong bankability, technology leadership, and proven ability to deliver large-scale, high-quality storage systems worldwide.
“Completing the Strübbel project is a significant step for Trina Storage in Germany,” said
Si Wang, Head of Project Management, Trina Storage Europe. “This milestone demonstrates the value of strong collaboration between developers, EPCs, and technology providers, and shows how our Elementa technology can enhance grid flexibility, integrate renewables at scale, and support Europe's clean energy transition,”
