Trina Storage, the energy storage arm of Trinasolar, has signed its first energy storage project in Greece with PPC Renewables, marking a major milestone for the company’s expansion into Southeastern Europe. The 50 MW / 200 MWh Amyntaio project in Western Macedonia is one of the biggest BESS projects in Greece and represents a cornerstone for Trina Storage’s future pipeline in the region.
The system, based on Trina Storage’s Elementa platform, will be delivered on a turnkey AC basis including DC battery cabinets, power conversion systems (PCS), medium-voltage (MV) skids, and power plant controller (PPC).
With a contracted capacity of 200 MWh, the project will be built using 60 Elementa 2 battery cabinets and 8 integrated PCS & MV skids enclosures, achieving a nameplate capacity of approximately 244 MWh. Amyntaio will provide critical grid services such as frequency regulation, renewable integration, and capacity adequacy. The project will also include a long-term service agreement (LTSA) covering full maintenance, remote monitoring, spare parts management, and performance and availability guarantees for 10 years.
“Greece is rapidly emerging as a key energy storage market in Europe, driven by auctions, policy support, and the need to integrate its abundant renewable resources,” said Gabriele Buccini, Head of Trina Storage Europe. “The Amyntaio project is not only our first in Greece but also an important signal of our long-term commitment to develop a multi-GWh pipeline in Southeastern Europe. Together with PPC Renewables, we are laying the groundwork for the energy transition in the region.”
Trina Storage has already established a strong footprint in Europe, with more than 50 projects across the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Eastern Europe representing over 4 GWh of contracted capacity. With Amyntaio, Trina Storage extends this presence into the Greek market, reinforcing its position as a leading provider of safe, bankable, and flexible grid-scale storage solutions.
